Frequently Asked Questions

  • Do you allow caravans or motorhomes? We allow VW style/size campervans and sprinter-type campervans, but no towed caravans or motorhomes please. We do not have electrical hook-ups, hard standing or chemical waste disposal.

  • How many people/tents per pitch?  We don't have pre-defined pitches, which allows for a variety of group shapes and sizes, however when you book, we will need to know how many people/sizes of tents there are in the party, so that we can allocate a suitable area to accommodate you all. Groups to keep noise level respectful of others, at all times.

  • Can we bring a gazebo? We are happy for you to bring gazebo's and awnings, as long as you are sensible about not taking up too much space when its busier.. As long as everyone on site is happy, then we're happy.

  • Is there any electricity available (or phone chargers)? Although we don't have any access to mains electricity, this year we have installed some solar panels on site, and will be charging our shower batteries and some power banks also, for phone charging. Power banks can be hired out on site, or whilst booking, for £10 - each power bank charges the latest smart phone 5 times on average.

  • Do you have a fridge/freezer on site? We don't currently have either a fridge or freezer on site, due to the lack of electricity, but we're working on it.

  • Can we park next to our pitch? We allow vehicles to drive up to their pitch slowly to unload, but to return cars to our chalk car park at the entrance (by the green barn). This is to allow as much space for everyone as possible, for safety reasons (we like children to be able to roam freely at Earth Camp), and for the aesthetics and feel of the campsite.

  • Following and during extreme wet weather, we may have to stop vehicle movement on the site. We have a couple of large wheelbarrows if you're arriving or leaving the site at these times; not for wheelbarrow racing down the hill please! I will also help anyone I can with my 4x4 (this has only ever happened twice though), and will be as flexible as I can.

  • Is Earth Camp safe and suitable for children? We are very suitable for children, and try to make it a place they'll love to hang out at (especially as we have two children ourselves to entertain on site all summer long). We have loads of games for everyone to borrow, an awesome rope swing, and an adjoining wood , which the kids can play in safely, with any dangers fenced off, so they can roam and make dens to their hearts content!

  • Do you allow dogs on site? We are dog friendly, but dogs must be kept under control/on a lead; consistent barking especially overnight is unacceptable. We charge £5 per night per dog, payable upon booking.  We have two green dog waste bins, one located uphill from the showers on the fence (At the far end of the field) and another one on the fence on the right at the end of our chalk path

  • What time can we arrive on site? Arrivals is 2pm, while departures at 12 noon. The campsite manager will be on site to greet you between 2pm and 7pm. If you need to arrive outside of these times then please let us know in advance and we will do our best to accommodate you.

  • Do you allow camp fires? Yes! Every pitch has its own private fire pit, and the Campsite Manager will visit every pitch each evening around 5/6pm to sell local firewood and kindling, kiln dried to the latest strict Government 20% moisture levels. If you need wood out of hours then please contact the Campsite Manager directly by phone (07889052334) and we can arrange a wood drop off for you. Please do not bring your own firewood or burn wood found in surrounding woodland  as 1. We cannot be certain that the wood complies to UK moisture laws, and 2. Wood often contains screws and nails that are left in the fire and can cause harm to wildlife and campers alike.

  • Are there any hills on your campsite? Yes, we have an interesting topography in our field!  There is a slope separating the top of the campsite, where the majority of pitches are, and the bottom of the campsite, where you will also find the woods.  This gives the sense of more privacy and space, however, this  means that access to all areas of the site may be difficult for wheelchair access and people with mobility issues.   If mobility is a concern, please email us with your specific needs.

  • Can we choose where we pitch our tent? Yes this is possible, however when we have larger group bookings, these will dictate which pitches are free.  If you have been before and have a preference as to where you would like to be pitched then please let us know and we will do our best to reserve that spot for you.

  • What facilities are available? Our campsite has composting toilets and a urinal at each end of the campsite.  There are hand wash basins next to the toilets, multiple washing up basins, a standpipe & hot showers within a short walk of your tent, with all facilities cleaned to a high standard twice a day.  We provide top quality, eco-friendly & biodegradable hand wash, shampoowashing up liquid , and dish brushes and ask you to try and only use our liquid products please, so as to protect the ground and wildlife.  There are no shops on-site. We have a delicious wood-fired pizza oven on Saturday nights, and an Artisan eco-roast coffee truck on Saturday and Sunday mornings, selling hot drinks & pastries/cakes. Take-aways and supermarkets will deliver to the campsite (and often to your pitch)!

  • Are you environmentally friendly? Yes! Saving the planet is at the heart of how we manage our site.  As previously mentioned, we have composting toilets, which avoid using water and the waste is later used to (safely) nourish hedges and trees (off site). We provide environmentally friendly washing up liquid and brushes at the wash stations and have plastic free sponges available for sale (please ask). We also have free bio-degradable, top quality shampoo in our showers and bio-degradable hand wash. We also provide recycled toilet paper. Please read our full 'Environmental Policy' for more information.

  • Can we have a BBQ? Off ground BBQ's are welcomed, but please avoid using disposable BBQ's as they burn the grass, as well as not being that eco-friendly.

  • What other attractions do you have on site? We offer a variety of massages, reflexology and energy healing in a treatment tent on-site and have an outside Yoga class (suitable for all levels) on Saturday mornings. We also have a table tennis table, a badminton/volleyball court, 5-a-side football goals, a cricket set, a croquet set, petanque, light-up Frisbees & Diablos, Corn Hole, Mölkky and our favourite game, Kubb. NB. Fairies and elves have moved into the woods at the end of the campsite; Please don't disturb them!

  • Do you have wifi? Earth Camp will always fight the screens, and hence don't have our own wifi (and we don't have access to electricity). However, we're aware that everything is online now, and some of you may want to 'work-from-field' or stream music/movies, and I'm happy to say that we receive excellent 3G/4G/5G wifi across our site (I have streamed full football games and movies on site without interruption many times).

  • Do you allow day visitors? We allow day visitors at a cost of £5 per person per day. Please note that visitors must be paid for in advance and abide by campsite policies, which includes leaving by 10pm.

  • Can we bring a generator or sound system? No. A small speaker will be acceptable, and acoustic music is always encouraged, but please always be mindful to your neighbours and please respect our noise curfew of 10.30pm, when all music needs to go off, instruments away and voices down please.

  • Do you accept Stag and Hen parties, or other group bookings? We don't accept Stag parties, but are open to discussion for Hen parties. We love group bookings, but prefer some warning if you all want to camp together. Please use the 'special requirements' box at the end of the booking form to inform us of group names.

  • Can I just turn up and hope for a pitch? Yes. Please try and ring or email first to check availability, but someone is usually on site to ask.

  • What time do we need to leave by? Please can you make sure you have cleared up and left your pitch by 12 midday on your last day.

  • Can I pay by card once onsite? Yes. Although camping bookings must be paid in full before arrival, we offer contactless card machines when purchasing firewood etc., or if you wish to extend your stay once on site. We also accept Apple Pay, Samsung Pay and encourage CASH!

  • Are there any food/refreshments on site? We are so lucky to have Sussex Coffee Trucks at our campsite, every Saturday and Sunday from 8-10am, serving ethically sourced coffee, roasted locally in small batches, as well as  delicious pastries & cakes.

  • On Saturdays from 5-8pm we are joined by Pizza in Paradisewho will set up their fabulous pizza oven, and will cook personal pizzas to perfection at the front of our meadow. With a wide-range of pizzas & garlic bread, and pre-ordering available, these very reasonably priced wood-fired pizzas in a field are sublime. Occasionally, Pizza in Paradise will be unable to visit, but we will do our very best to find a replacement caterer that weekend, and will message you in advance to let you know if anything changes.

  • Will you deliver ice cream to me on a hot Saturday afternoon? Our local ice cream van man 'Darren' visits the site every Saturday around 5pm (please note the ice-cream van only serves dairy ice cream).

  • Is there space to play games? Yes! There is lots of space on the field and wooded area to play games.  You may hang your own swings/hammock in the wooded areas, at your own risk.  We have a table tennis table, a badminton and volleyball court, 5-a-side football goals, a cricket set, light-up frisbees & diablos, petanque, Kubb, Mölkky and Corn Hole. All of our equipment is free to borrow at your leisure, and most equipment will be in the games box, located near the front toilet area or phone Will for any assistance.

  • Where do we put our rubbish/recycling? Earth Camp is a rubbish free site, so we kindly ask that you bring your own bin bags and take your rubbish and recycling away with you at the end of your stay.  Maresfield amenity tip is a 2 mile drive east along the A272.  Any rubbish bags you can't take with you, will be subject to a £3 disposal fee per bag, thanks.

Please get in contact if you have any other questions or queries, either by email (info@earthcamp.co.uk) or by phone (07889 052334).
